[Permanently Closed] The Gallery, TTDI [1st Visit]

Le boyfriend surprised me with a Birthday dinner last week and brought me to this gorgeous chic Italian-Western restaurant. There’s always something really promising about family run businesses. 🙂

I love the food, the ambiance and especially the service. Nabila, who’s in charge of front-of-the-house greeted us with such warm and friendly manner and has consistently checked if the food was up to par…which honestly, it exceeded my expectations. Thanks to the 2 incredible chefs, Chef Natasha (Nabila’s sister) and Chef Mohd Shaufi (Nabila’s husband).

The plating was very, very classy and the food was fabulous~ I had the pan seared scallops with risotto and brown butter. It blew me away. It’s scallop and risotto heaven. The risotto was perfectly cooked, unlike some places where they make it slightly crunchy or so they called al-dente. But hell, we’re Malaysian. Cook it the way we like it. We no like half cooked rice okay?! Hahahaa But rest assured, the Gallery certainly knows how to make an excellent risotto. And the brown butter, I must highlight the brown butter. It is the main star that lifts this dish to a whole new level and then topped with the crunchiest fried leeks, it’ll make you totally forget about fried shallots after this guys.

For my man, he ordered the juicy medium rare grilled Aussie sirloin. The meat was really juicy and tender. The sauce that was placed at the side was really yummy. Not that the already well seasoned meat needed anymore sauce but that’s just how we Malaysians like it, saucy~~ And I have to admit, they have converted me to a sweet potato mash lover! I really thought I would only love the conventional mashed potato for the rest of my life! 😉

We also ordered a side of Cheesy Frites. They pour creamy béchamel sauce on top of the already perfectly fried fries and then blanketed with a whole lot of cheese on top. When you dig in to it, the cheesy trail that follows can go up to a feet high. So throw your manners out the door and eat like how I always do – keep raising up your fork until the trail breaks and then pick it up with your mouth and then put the whole thing in.

And no Birthday is complete without a delicious cake right? So they’ve arranged a yummy Tiramisu cup for me. It’s different because it has some bitter chocolate-like sprinkles on top as suppose to just bitter chocolate powder. It’s definitely yummy even though it’s alcohol-free.
