Took a short trip to Thailand to celebrate Merdeka this year….not! Hahahaa
Had dinner at one of the Boat Noodle outlets today and to my surprise, they’ve added some pretty interesting stuff since I last visited them….one of it is Sangkaya with thick plumpy pillowy bread~ Yum!
The first thing we ordered was definitely the noodle, without a doubt. As you might already know by now, it comes in 2 different broths, Ayutthaya and Pathumthani. So here’s the difference:-
Ayutthaya – Dark soy sauce broth with a soury tang and packs a punch all thanks to the 19 different herbs in it
Pathumthani – Clear creamy soup with a softer milder taste but still jam packed with flavour of no less than 10 different herbs
And because we kept seeing Kra-Pow Chicken Rice flying out the kitchen window, we couldn’t help but to order it. It’s a tad too oily but it’s really tasteful AND spicy, just the way I like it. 🙂
On our second order, I snuck in one of the latest addition – Thai Popeye’s Tempura. It’s actually kangkung leaves dunk in tempura batter and fried till crisp. It’s simple goodness with an awesome dipping sauce. It’s a pretty smart idea to fully utilize the kangkung actually; leaves fried while the stem is used as an accompaniment with the noodles.
My all time go-to drinks when I visit is the Cha-Yen. This dang outlet got me so hooked up on this drink that each time I visit I try really hard to order something else but fail miserably…all . the . time! Hahaha
But despite all the good food and drinks we had today. We notice that the kitchen and service crew has difficulty communicating with each other and the kitchen crew tends to forget all the other orders except the noodles. But we’re very lucky that our orders came in a pretty sensible waiting time despite the craziness today. Not a good thing but there’s definitely plenty of room to grow.
